Who we are
Systemantics is a development studio specializing in websites and applications for art and culture, design, and architecture. Founded in 2001, we are your partner in technical development if you set value on ambitious design and clear structures.
What we do
We develop (accessible) websites, online exhibitions, online collections, content management systems and custom applications for museums, galleries, festivals, artists, design studios, type foundries, and architecture firms, always with a soft spot for design. Beyond development, we provide consultancy during the conception and design process. In addition, we are always looking for a long-term relationship with our clients.
What drives us
Our work is visual, accurate, and forward-thinking. We combine efficiency with technical excellence—in our conceptual and development work, as well as in project management and communication. Despite not being designers, we have an eye for design, too.
How we work
Our process is flexible and dedicated. We know how to read a visual design and translate it into a working website, as well as identify and address possible challenges, often even before they arise. From over 300 projects (not all listed here), we have great insight into the processes and daily work in museums, exhibition spaces, theaters, architecture and design firms and design studios. And we are still learning something new every day, and love our work.
Our tech stack
Delivering design files: While we will work from designs in any format, it is best to use a UI design tool such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
Languages: We primarily work in Node.js and PHP for backends and in Vue, jQuery, TypeScript, vanilla JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SASS for frontends. This list is not exhaustive, so we’re open to use what fits a project best. We are not taking on projects in React and Angular.
Content Management Systems and data stores: Since 2006 we develop our own headless, multichannel CMS Hylex which has already powered hundreds of projects of all sizes. If not Hylex, we will work with, adapt to, and interface with many other content management systems and data stores. Apart from systems like WordPress, we have wide experience with museum collection systems such as zetcom’s MuseumPlus.
Data migration: Almost every project involves some form of data migration. As long as the data is at least rudimentarily structured, we can import and migrate it.
Maps: We have extensive experience with mapping solutions such as Leaflet and Mapbox as well as Google Maps.
Cookie consent: We have our own cookie consent solution, but will also work with any third-party solution that a project requires.
Analytics: We can work with and embed any analytics or tracking solution on the market if the project requires it, as well as provide some guidance on what is legal and ethical.
