»In her quest for new forms of presentation and the distribution of information, Marres started a collaboration with Systemantics, aiming to show the diverse facets of the institute on the world wide web. In cooperation with Systemantics and our graphic designers, we came up with a concept in which the website of the institute does not only have an informing purpose, but also functions as an online archive, through which the choices of the institute become traceable again. Furthermore, the choice was made to use different forms of navigation, which leave room for an associative approach to our programme and the discovery of unknown aspects of our exhibitionmodels.

»With Systemantics we have made good experiences. In the first place, they are working proactively when starting a project. We prefer this having consultancy in an early state. Systemantics thinks over the interactivity of a site, how a problem can be solved or how a process can be followed. This way, design and interactivity don't develop independently but in parallel, dependent on each other. Aside Systemantics can plausibly criticize a site design. This sometimes causes particular points to be reviewed, but is for sure effective.

Communicating with Systemanitcs is fast, easy and problem-solving. When greater problems in a site occur, often multiple emails go back and forth to discuss which solution will work best. »We worked with Systemantics on several projects, all dealing not only with a straight up website, but also with workflow applications like online archival systems, intranet and online file exchange. The moment a website becomes a tool, for communication, but also for research and office workflow, that is one of the strenghts of Systemantics. They should be involved in a project from the beginning, as they can really add to the conceptual development as well as a clear information architecture. They foresee all things involved in a process that have to be dealt with and use that analysis in a proposal of how to use existing habits in order to streamline things. We noticed that especially in a project where online applications had to be implemented.
